Bangalore-Mysore-Ooty

‘It’s better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times.’
Educational tours have always been an integral part of our curriculum. We went on a tour of Bangalore, Mysore, Ooty and Coonoor. The group comprised 50 students of Class-VII (Ravi-Sutlej) along with escorts? Ms Sarabjit Kaur Khattra, Ms Prabhjot Kaur, Mr JS Billing, Mr Sunil Kumar Singh, Ms Jyoti Gowswami and Coach Harpreet Kaur. On March 14, we left our campus for Bangalore at 8.50 am. We boarded the Bangalore Rajdhani Express at 8.45 pm from Nizamuddin Railway Station. The students were enchanted by the sceneries and the views from the windows of AC compartment. The two days that we spent in the train were filled with fun and frolic.
On March 16, we reached Bangalore, the city of gardens at 6.40 am and headed straight for the Quality Inn which lived up to its name. Whether it was the hospitality or ambience, everything was perfect. After lunch, we went for sightseeing in Bangalore to get a glimpse of Vidhan Sabha, Lal Bagh, Bull Temple and Tipu Sutlan’s Palace. We had dinner and relaxed ourselves.
On March 17, we left for Mysore. We visited Srirangapatna en route. We also went to Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace. The construction of the palace commenced in 1781. It was started by Nawab Hyder Ali Khan and completed by Tipu Sultan in 1791. After lunch we visited the Mysore Palace. It was a spectacular palace and the official residence of the Wodeyars. The palace construction was commissioned in 1897 and was completed in 1912 and later expanded around 1940. We really enjoyed the whole day. We came back late in the night. We had dinner and retired for the night.
On March 18, we visited the Chamuda Devi temple, St Philomena’s Church and the Kankaria Lake. After lunch, we went to see the Krishnaraj Sagar Dam and the famous Brindavana Gardens with the beautiful musical fountains. The work on the laying out of this garden was started in 1932. Two million tourists visit this garden every year. The main attraction here is the Musical Dancing Fountain which dances to the tune of Hindi film music amidst colourful lights.
On March 19, we proceeded for Ooty after breakfast. We crossed through Bandipur National Park. We really enjoyed 127 km bus journey from Mysore to Ooty. We reached our hotel in the evening. We saw the beautiful Ooty Lake. We were immensely excited to see the special home-made chocolates in Ooty.
On March 20, we visited the Nonsuch Tea Estate at Coonoor. We were explained at length the process of preparation of tea. We came back to Ooty by a toy train feasting our eyes on the scenic beauty of the Nilgiris.

Udaipur-Chittorgarh-Mount Abu

A group of 73 students from Classes-IV and V and 8 escorts went to explore the rich, ancient and royal culture of Rajasthan. Udaipur has received a rich cultural heritage from the bygone ages. The lakes, temples, huge forts and palaces boast of the rich legacy of this city. The city has preserved the rituals and traditions of the past while keeping up with modern advancements and changes in lifestyle. Like any other place in the state of Rajasthan, folk dance and music have an important place in adding to the city’s cultural richness. Chittorgarh is a city and a municipality in Rajasthan state of western India. It lies on the river Berach, a tributary of the Banas, and is the administrative headquarters of Chittorgarh District and a former capital of the Sisodia Dynasty of Mewar. Mount Abu is a famous hill station.
Set on a high rocky plateau in the Aravalli Range and surrounded by forests, it offers a relatively cool climate and views over the arid plains below. In the center of town, Nakki Lake is a popular spot for boating. Close by are the centuries old Dilwara Temples, ornately carved out of white marble and having a great spiritual significance. The students enjoyed the historical palaces and local culture and traditions.
Day-1
The journey to explore Rajasthan started on the morning of March 14 when all the students along with Mr Narinder Singh (Tour Incharge) and escorts? Ms Harmandeep Kaur, Ms Sarita Rana, Mr Davinder Kumar Dutt, Ms Monika Bansal, Ms Shifali Gupta, Ms Reena Bundela and Ms Surinder Kaur, attendents Mr Ranjeet Singh and Ms Sukhwinder Kaur left the school campus at 9.00 am. We had lunch at Haveli, Murthal. We reached Nizamuddin Railway Station in the evening. We boarded the train at 7.00 pm. We enjoyed the journey and reached Udaipur the next morning.
Day-2
A wholesome breakfast awaited us in the morning. It was followed by our visit to the City Palace which indeed took us back to the royal times. We relished every bit of the Amar Mahal, the Queens’ Palace, the Silver Gallery and many more. We came back to our hotel for lunch. After taking rest for a while, we went to the Fateh Sagar Lake. The group visited the Celebration Mall at Udaipur for shopping.
Day-3
We had an early breakfast and headed for the famous Chittorgarh Fort. We saw the Mirabai Temple. We also saw the Padmini’s Palace and Victory Tower which are powerful symbols of valorous acts of Rajputs against the Mughals. We came back to our hotel and had lunch.
We went to explore Saheliyon-ki-Bari. It is an exquisitely verdant garden and a popular tourist spot of Udaipur. It lies in the northern part of the city and has fountains and kiosks, a lotus pool and marble elephants. It was built by Rana Sangram Singh. We left for the local market at Hathi Pol.
Day-4
We left for Rana Partap memorial around 10.00 am. It is a powerful symbol of Suryavanshi clan of Udaipur. It has a statue of Maharana Pratap seated on his horse. Then we visited a museum depicting various facets of the Rajasthani culture. The students also enjoyed the puppet show organised by Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandal. They showcased the folk dances as well.
Day-5
Now it was the turn of the pleasant side of the weather that awaited us all at Sunset Inn, Mount Abu. We left for Mount Abu after having breakfast. The journey was mesmerising and we reached the destination around 12.30 pm. We had lunch and went to enjoy the colours of nature at the Sunset Point. The children enjoyed evening by singing the School Song at the top of the hill while enjoying sunset. We came back to our hotel after trekking and waited for the adventures of the next day.
Day-6
We began the day with a visit to a place that is an epitome of peace, the headquarters of Brahmkumaris. The sect believes in universal peace. We also saw the Dilwara temple which is a sacred place of Jain followers and famous for marvellous marble art. The temple is in the midst of a forest hill. It was followed by lunch. In the evening, we paid a visit to the Nakki Lake which is in Aravalli range. The children enjoyed window shopping in the city. We came back to our hotel for dinner.
Day-7
We visited the historical Sikh shrine ‘Gurudwara Nanak Darshan Mount Abu’. Guru Nanak Dev visited Mount Abu during his second udasi (travels of Nanak Dev) to spread the message of God. Then we went to see St Lawrence Church built in 1846. The Anglican St Lawrence Church was the first church in Mount Abu. It has attractive stained glass windows and carved wooden pews. The name of the church has been recently changed to St Saviour’s Church. We left Mount Abu at 11.00 am for Udaipur and halted en route for lunch. We continued the journey and reached Udaipur Railway Station to catch the train for Delhi. We boarded the train at 6.15 pm and reached Nizamuddin the next morning. Around 7.00 am we started for our campus and halted for breakfast and lunch. We reached our school at 4.00 pm with sweet memories and experiences.

Kanyakumari-Trivandrum-Kochi-Alleppey

On March 13, we started for the Nizamuddin Railway Station by bus at 11.00 pm. Our group comprised 47 students and 6 teachers. We arrived at the station at 5.00 am and boarded the Rajdhani Express. After a 42-hr long journey, we reached the Trivandrum Railway Station at 5.00 am. We headed for Kanyakumari immediately after tea. Upon arrival at our destination, we freshened up, had breakfast and walked to board the boat for sightseeing. We visited Swami Vivekananda Rock located in the Indian Ocean. We were thrilled to see the mighty waves. We headed for Kanyakumari Temple and Sunset Point after lunch. We really enjoyed sipping coconut water.
On March 17, we saw sunrise from the terrace of our hotel. It was absolutely amazing. After breakfast, we left for Trivandrum by bus en route visiting Kovalam Beach. Most of us saw the beach for the first time. We enjoyed the waves. We loved the sand slipping under our feet. We were not satisfied even after two hours in the waters. We soon made our way to Trivandrum. We checked into our hotel. We visited Padmanaswami Temple after lunch.
On March 18, we had an early breakfast and proceeded for Trivandrum Napier Museum and Zoological Garden where our students saw various species of bird and animals. After lunch we left for Alleppey. We enjoyed dancing in the evening.
On March 19, we left for the Back Water Safari in the Vembanad Kayal River. We were in the house boat for close to three hours. We enjoyed the beauty of nature. We feasted our eyes on palm trees and lagoons. In the evening, we reached Kochi and saw the Marine Drive.
On March 20, we visited St Francis Church, Indo-Portuguese Museum and Chinese Fishing Nets. In the evening, we went to the MG road for shopping. We visited the famous Lulu Mall the next day. It is the second biggest Mall in Asia. We were amazed at the infrastructure. We were refreshed seeing an unending games, rides and swings. We had lunch in the Mall itself. We resumed our games after lunch. At 4.30 pm, we watched a movie Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya. It was the most memorable day of our journey. We started our return journey from Kochi the same day and reached our campus on March 23 by 11.00 pm.

Hyderabad-Ramoji Film City-Bangalore

Day-1
We left for New Delhi Railway Station at 8.00 am on March 14. Our group comprised 53 students and 6 teachers? Mr NS Deol (Tour Incharge), Mr K Ramana Kumar, Mr Paramjit Singh, Mr Sukhjeet Singh, Ms Renu Sharma and Ms Harpreet Kaur. We halted at Chowkidhani, Panipat to have our lunch. We reached Delhi at 4.35 pm. We boarded the Telangana Express for Hyderabad at 5.30 pm.
Day-2
The next day we had a lot of fun while travelling in the train. We had our breakfast at 9.00 am. We played a lot of games to keep ourselves entertained. We had our lunch at 2.00 pm. We reached the Secunderabad Junction at 7.00 pm. We checked into RNB Hotel at 7.30 pm. We had our dinner and retired for the night.
Day-3
We had our breakfast at 7.30 am and left for sightseeing. We went to Mecca Masjid and Chowmahalla Palace. We saw many vintage cars and also got to know a lot about Nizam-III.
Thereafter, we went to see Charminar. We had our lunch at Santosh Dhaba. It was followed by our visit to Salargunj Museum. In the evening, we went to see the light and sound show at Golconda Fort. It was absolutely amazing. After enjoying the whole day, we went back to the hotel, had our dinner and went to sleep.
Day-4
On March 17, we went to Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. It is the largest film studio complex in the world. We saw a lot of amazing places like the Ramoji Movie Magic, Light Camera Action Studio, Filmy Duniya and Action Theatre. Film-making revealed to us the reality behind the camera. We saw what goes into the making of a perfect scene for a movie. We visited the Alampana Theatre. We had lunch at Alampana restaurant. We also saw the Space Yatra, Back lot tour in Eureka and many museums, historical places and monuments. Thereafter, we went for bird watching. We came back to our hotel, had dinner and retired for the night.
Day-5
On March 18, we went to see Lumbani Park and the famous Bull Temple. We had our lunch at McDonald’s in the Mall and did some shopping. We went back to our hotel, took our luggage and went to the Railway Station to catch the Bangalore Express at 7.30 pm.
Day-6
We arrived at the Bangalore City Junction at 6.40 am the next morning. Bangalore is the famed City of Gardens. We reached our hotel VT Paradise at 7.30 am. We freshened up, had breakfast and went for a tour of Bangalore. We visited Tipu Sutlan’s Palace and other places of great repute. We came back late in the evening.
Day-7
We had our breakfast at 8.30 am and left for ISKCON temple. Thereafter, we went to the Lalbagh Botanical Garden. We also went for shopping in a Mall. We came back to our hotel for some rest. In the evening, we went to Silk Factory, Cubbon Park, Bal Bhawana and Vishveswara Museum. We had our DJ Party in the evening. We really enjoyed it.
Day-8
After breakfast, we went to a Mall for shopping and also watched a movie Kong: Skull Island. After having lunch at KFC, we moved to Railway Station to board the Karnataka Express.
Day-9 & 10
It was a complete train journey the next day. On March 23, we reached Delhi and proceeded to The Punjab Public School by bus. We really enjoyed our tours. We express our deep gratitude to Dr Jagpreet Singh for giving us this opportunity to be part of such a well organised tour.

Mumbai-Goa

Day 1 (March 14)
A group of 45 students (37 boys & 8 girls) of Class-VII (Ravi & Sutlej House) assembled in Junior School at 11.00 pm on March 14, 2017. We boarded the bus for Nizamuddin Railway Station to catch our train for Madgaon (Goa).
Day 2 & 3 (March 15 & 16)
We reached Haveli, Murthal at 5.00 am. We freshened up and had tea and biscuits. We started at 6.00 am and reached Nizamuddin Railway Station at 8.30 am. We had breakfast at Comesum restaurant. Then we headed for the railway station. At 10.30 am, we boarded the Rajdhani Express for Madgaon (Goa). After 27-hr long journey, we reached Madgaon at 1.30 pm. We checked into our Hotel La Gull’s Court Goa. We freshened up and had lunch at
3. 00 pm. We visited Vagator beach. Our children had a lot of fun at the beach while collecting various coloured shells.
Day 4 (March 17)
We had rouser at 7.00 am. After breakfast we moved to Calangute beach. The children had lots of fun splashing in the sea waves. We also visited Anjuna Beach. We came back to our hotel by 1.30 pm. We had lunch and retired to our rooms for rest. After evening tea at 3.00 pm, we went to see St Francis Xavier’s Church. Our guide briefed us about the church.
Then at 6.00 pm, we moved to Mandovi river for cruise. There we had good time. The cruise people specially welcomed the PPS students. The students enjoyed DJ very much. We came back to our hotel at 8.30 pm and had dinner.
Day 5 (March 18)
We had rouser at 7.00 am. After breakfast we visited Aguada Fort, Baga beach. We were free for shopping for half an hour in market. We were back in the hotel for lunch at 1.00 pm and were free in the evening. At 3.30 pm, boys enjoyed swimming for an hour in the hotel itself. Girls also enjoyed splashing in the swimming pool for half an hour at 4.30 pm. At 5.30 pm, we celebrated the birthday of R-00153 Jatin Markan. He cut the cake and all children enjoyed the party. It was followed by dinner.
Day 6 (March 19)
After breakfast, we again visited Vagator beach which was at a walking distance from our hotel. The children had lots of fun in the sea waves. We came back to our hotel after an hour.
We had lunch and checked out at 1.00 pm. We left for the Madgaon Railway Station. We boarded the train at 5.50 pm for Mumbai.
Day 7 (March 20)
After 12-hr journey, we reached the CST Railway Station at 6.00 am. Then, we checked into the Ajanta Juhu. We freshened up and had breakfast. We left for Water Kingdom in a ferry.
Students enjoyed a lot of rides like Tilt-A Whirl, Zyclone, Zipper-Dripper, Monsters and Lazy River. We had lunch and evening tea there itself. We came back to our hotel in the evening and had our dinner.
Day 8 (March 21)
After breakfast, we visited the Nehru Science Centre. We visited the Taraporevala Aquarium opposite Marine Drive. We had lunch at McDonald’s. The students enjoyed a lot. We also saw “The Gateway of India”. Students clicked many pictures. Our next destination was Chhatrapati Museum (Prince of Wales Museum) which has been divided into various sections such as National History Section, Coin Gallery, etc. Afterwards we left for Linking Road Market which is the cheapest market in the world. They sell quality goods here at a reasonable price. Our students did a lot of shopping for their near and dear ones and enjoyed a lot. At 8.00 pm, we came back to our hotel and had dinner.
Day 9 (March 22)
After breakfast, we checked out. We visited Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple. We had a fleeting glimpse of the sacred shrine of Haji Ali en route. We also saw the residential area belonging to the likes of Mr Mukesh Ambani, Mr Ambitabh Bachhan, Mr Abhishek Bachhan, Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. At 11.00 am we visited the Phoenix Mall. We had lunch at Domino’s Pizza. The staff at Domino’s taught our children how to prepare the pizza. The children also did a lot of shopping. At 3.30 pm, we moved to Mumbai Central Railway Station. We boarded the Rajhdani Express for New Delhi at 4.30 pm.
Day 10 (March 23)
After 16-hr journey, we reached New Delhi. We had dinner and breakfast in the train. We boarded the bus for school. We had lunch at Vivaan restaurant, Karnal. It was a great feeling coming back home. The homeword journey finally came to an end when we arrived in the school at 5.00 pm.
