1. Visit to NGO and School for Children with Special Needs
A group of seven students of class XII visited NGO 'Subhag Learning Centre' based in Delhi for slum children. The visit was organised by the Psychology department. In addition student also visited the School for Children with Special Needs to get a better insight into the problems, and the various effective strategies and therapies used to deal with children suffering from learning disorders.
2. Visit to Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhavan
A group of eighteen students from class XII went to Delhi as part of their curriculum. Students kicked off their visit by going to Teen Murti Bhavan, former residence of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawahar Lal Nehru. Students attended the Parliament Session and actively witnessed the Lok Sabha proceedings.
They were thoroughly privileged to come across high profile dignitaries like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maneka Gandhi to name a few. Their visit also included great learning experience at Rashtrapati Bhavan, St James' Church followed by some leisure time at Connaught Place.
3. Alwar - Sariska - Bharatpur - Agra - Delhi - An Educational Excursion
A group of 41 students and 3 teachers left for Alwar. Reaching the Sagar School and exploring their magnificent campus, the group headed for Sariska exploring rare species of trees , animals and medicinal plants. After spending a day, the students headed to Agra. On the way, they stopped at Fatehpur Sikri witnessing the breath-taking 54 metre high Buland Darwaza, and the tomb of Saint Salim Chisti.
Visit to Agra would have been definitely incomplete without posing for Shahjahan's masterpiece, The Taj Mahal. The group also visited Bird sanctuary.
While on way back, they stopped at Delhi's Akshardham Temple which displays traditional Hindu and Indian culture. Not to miss out, their visit included lots of local shopping and collecting souvenirs.
4. Labeling Trees at PPS Campus
It is important for the students to know the names of trees in their surroundings. It was decided by the Biology department to undertake a project for naming the trees for the year 2015-16. Students searched for the vernacular as well as the scientific names which was followed by identifying the trees with their names.
Empty oil tins found in the campus were reduced to strips and painted in red colour with the oil paint. Finally, the students nailed the strips on the trees.
This project has helped not only the students but everyone vising the campus to know about plethora of flora in the PPS Senior Wing.
