PPS lifts All India IPSC Hockey Championship (Boys U-19 & Girls U-17) trophies

All India IPSC Hockey Championship (Boys U-19 & Girls U-17) was organised at The Punjab Public School from July 14-16, 2017. Maj Gen TPS Waraich, Director, Yadavindra Public School, Mohali and an alumnus of PPS presided over the Opening Ceremony. 14 member schools of the IPSC including Mayo College, Ajmer, YPS, Mohali, YPS, Patiala, Welhams, Dehradun and The Emerald Heights International School, Indore took part in the prestigious event. Three days saw the teams vying for the top honours. Finally, The Punjab Public School lifted the trophy in both the categories. Boys defeated Yadavindra Public School, Patiala 5-0 and girls trounced MNSS, Rai 5-3. Mr JM Balamurugan (IAS), Secretary, the Governor of Punjab and Member, Executive Committee of The Punjab Public School was the chief guest on the Closing Ceremony. He gave away certificates and trophies to the winning teams.

PPS boys lift the PC Batta Memorial All India Inter-School Cricket Trophy 

The boys’ team of The Punjab Public School, Nabha  lifted the Prakash Chand Batta Memorial All India Inter-School Cricket Trophy in the tournament held at Kasiga School, Dehradun from April 19-25, 2016. A highly motivated team led by Captain Harmanpreet Hundal crafted the historic win for the school. Rajat Sharma and Manraj Singh were given Man of the Match Award at the league stage. While Aayush Ahuja was declared the Best Wicket Keeper of the tournament, Harmanpreet Hundal was adjudged the Man of the Match in the final. It is for the first time that PPS has won a tournament of this stature. The coaches of the team-Mr Harminder Singh and Mr Abhishek Jalota played a key role in it.

PPS boys show their class at the 12th S Kandhari Memorial (U-19) Hockey Tournament

Led by Captain Akashdeep Singh, boys’ team of The Punjab Public School, Nabha put up an impressive show at the 12th S Kandhari Memorial (U-19) Hockey Tournament held at Welham Boys’ School, Dehradun from April 30-May 4, 2016. Topping the pool, the brave hearts defeated YPS, Patiala and Doon School, Dehradun and made it to the Semi-Final where they trounced Mayo College, Ajmer. The team lost to the home team and emerged Runners-Up. While Harmanjot Singh was the Highest Scorer of the Tournament, Vibhanshu Tiwari was adjudged the Best Attacker.

Festival Football Match
A festival football match was played between staff and students on August 1, 2016. Dr Jagpreet Singh, Headmaster kept the goal for the staff and Football Captain, Karanvir Singh Jattana for the students. Both the teams gave each other a tough fight. They got many chances which could have been easily converted into goals. The trio of Mr Omkar Singh Thakur, Mr Sharry and Mr Garry Everett, Deputy Headmaster looked dangerous in the mid of the first half. They almost converted a chance into a goal. Hundal was the saviour for the students who dived full stretch to stop it. The game lingered on like this until both sides settled for a first half without a goal. The second half kicked off with change in the strategy. The goalkeepers on both sides were changed. Mr Varinder Singh Johal kept the goal for the staff and Vansh Dhama, Deputy Head Boy for the students. The students were desperate for a goal. Finally, the trio of Karanveer Singh Jattana, Naehap Sharma and Harman Hundal gave the team a well coordinated goal giving Mr Varinder Singh Johal no chance at all. With just 12 minutes of play left, the students focused on defending their lead. Some weak shots were easily handled by Vansh Dhama. As he trapped the ball in his hand and kicked it off, the final whistle blew. The students defeated the staff 1-0. It was their first win in three years.

51st Inter-House Aquatic Meet
The 51st Inter-House Aquatic Meet came to a grand finale on September 3, 2016. Mr Manpreet Singh, DSP, Nabha was the chief guest. He gave away prizes to the winners. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Manpreet Singh exhorted the student community to make the best possible use of the sports infrastructure available on the campus. Dr Jagpreet Singh, Headmaster, The Punjab Public School gave Mr Manpreet Singh a token of deeply felt love and gratitude. He also proposed the vote of thanks.
